Kim Schultz has more than 17 years of experience focused on all aspects of retirement plans. Kim provides a full range of consulting services on all types of qualified retirement plans and health and welfare arrangements. Kim regularly helps her clients find the optimal plan design, given the client’s industry, employee demographics, and total rewards strategy. She also spends much of her time on plan compliance issues, reviewing plan operations, streamlining processes and procedures, identifying issues and then helping clients through the various correction programs. Finally, Kim assists clients in finding the best administration partners to efficiently operate their plans and to leverage external expertise to give her clients more time to focus on strategy. She is frequently engaged to represent clients in front of the Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service regarding retirement plan compliance issues.
Prior to forming Compensation & Benefit Solutions, Kim was a senior manager in the Compensation and Benefits practice at KPMG and had been with the firm for eight years.
Kim received her B.A. in Economics, with an emphasis in Accounting, from Rutgers University and her Master’s degree, with a concentration in taxation, from Colorado State University. Kim is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Colorado Society of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Western Pension & Benefits Conference. Kim is also a member of the Pacific Coast Tax Exempt and Government Entities Advisory Committee which provides advice and public input on the IRS Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division’s tax administration activities. Kim has been recognized by the Colorado Society of CPAs as a recipient of the “CPAs Making a Difference” award as well as receiving a national award for volunteerism at KPMG.
Kim’s passion outside of the office is her three children. Additionally, Kim is an advanced certified scuba diver and attempts to swim with sharks whenever the opportunity arises (the opportunities are not as abundant as when she lived in Hawaii). Kim is also a certified skydiver and enjoys skiing, hiking and all things outside that Colorado has to offer.
