Patrick joined Compensation & Benefit Solutions, LLC in November of 2010. Since joining us, he has worked extensively with tax-qualified retirement plans, assisted in drafting nonqualified deferred compensation plans, consulted on Internal Revenue Code Section 409A, and assisted in IRS employment tax examinations. Most of Patrick’s time is spent working on tax-qualified retirement plan issues such as preparing submissions under the IRS’ Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System and the DOL’s Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program, assisting clients in examinations, performing operational reviews, and preparing Forms 5500.
Prior to joining us, Patrick worked at Collier, Sarner & Associates, Inc. where he assisted in the drafting of restatements of defined contribution plans to comply with the most recent statutes and regulations. Patrick earned his law degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law and his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver. While attending the University of Denver, he represented low-income taxpayers before the IRS as a part of the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. Patrick received his B.A. in General Business from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX.
Patrick’s interests include fishing, hiking, golf, and just about anything else that allows him to enjoy the outdoors with his wife, Kaleena. Patrick grew up in Austin, TX and lived there until leaving to attend law school.
