Peter Miterko is an executive compensation consultant and attorney with 25 years of experience assisting public, private equity and family owned companies. Peter recently joined the Denver office of Compensation & Benefits Solutions after spending 7 years at a New York based executive compensation consultancy. There, his practice focused on banks, mutual fund companies, asset management firms, hedge funds, and numerous private equity funds. His work with private equity included consulting to portfolio companies representing a broad array of industries. He helped many of those portfolio companies before, during, and long after their initial public offerings.
Peter’s work in the financial services industry during the 2008/2009 financial crisis has equipped him to manage executive compensation issues for organizations undergoing scrutiny from shareholders, shareholder advisory firms, activists and regulators. He has represented Special Assistant TARP companies before the Treasury Department and Office of the Special Master, as well as the Federal Reserve and FDIC. Recently, he has helped a dozen public company compensation committees deal with say on pay issues or no votes and he has assisted several not for profit entities under scrutiny from the IRS or states attorney general. He has also served as an expert witness in several high profile cases where executive compensation was a key issue.
Peter strongly believes that executive compensation should be leveraged to enhance share value and increase organizational performance. He makes it a practice to confer regularly with institutional shareholders, private equity fund managers, family office representatives and family councils regarding executive compensation. He understands that owners want an executive pay structure which delivers value and he is looking forward to working with the team at Compensation and Benefits Solutions to ensure that our clients’ executive pay packages provide that value.
Prior to his recent tour of duty in New York, Peter worked for both a global consulting concern and a locally based firm in Denver. Prior to that, Peter spent 15 years at Ernst & Young, where he served as the Global Managing Partner of the EY’s Actuarial, Benefits, and Compensation Consulting division. Prior to that, he served as a senior associate at Carter, Ledyard & Milburn, a Wall Street law firm.
Peter received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, his JD at University of Connecticut, and his LL.M in Taxation from the New York University School of Law. He currently sits on the Compensation Committee of National Volunteers of America.
